3 Questions with Maksim Kolesnik

27.01.2020

What would the aircraft maintenance be without proper tooling and facilities to perform maintenance tasks? Today we would like to introduce you our expert in Magnetic MRO Tooling & Facility department - Maksim Kolesnik. Maksim has been with the company for over 8 years and is glad to share his insight about the importance of keeping up with the innovative tooling and facility management.

What is the most exciting or challenging project you and your team worked on in the past year? I would have to say that for me, the most exciting project which we have worked constructively during the last year was the development of a new narrow-body aircraft maintenance facility with completed space programming for the hangars, shops, warehouses and other necessary infrastructure parts. While developing the designs and layout for the new hangar there is also a need to constantly think about new and innovative solutions to keep up with the industry needs that would work for many years. What’s the most challenging part of your work? How do you approach these challenges? Managing the tooling and facility department is challenging every single day. And by challenging I also mean interesting. You must keep up with time and provide innovative solutions in the fast-growing aviation industry – there is much to explore and learn every single day. You have to make sure that as a supportive department, providing the right tooling to different maintenance units needs to be at the right place at the right time. The crucial part here is to make sure the quality standards that are needed for the aviation approved tooling equipment are met and this is what me and my team are working on every single day. Same goes with keeping our facilities in top-notch condition – clean and safe for all of our employees. What new technologies and modern solutions you’re implementing in your department and how does it influence your work as well as Magnetic MRO services in general? Over the years we have implemented some of the most needed new technologies, such as Automated RFID tool rooms which enable to track inventory and consumables in real-time. For many years we developed our tooling management software to adjust it with Magnetic MRO specific needs, containing up to date calibration, servicing and testing module. This way the system creates custom-made reports that allow tracking of everyday progress. From facilities management, we have implemented the BMS – Building management system that helps to keep an eye on the complex management facilities, such as our fully purposed Painting facility.
